Welcome to the first of many interior newsletters! Interiors has always been of interest to me, thanks to my Mum and Dad who filled our home growing up with beautiful furniture and objects. It’s taught me to appreciate and value lovely things. Design and taste is so personal, but to me, one of the most important things of living is to be in a space that feels like you. One that reflects your personality, that enables you to be grounded, comfortable and to feel safe.
I love looking around other people’s houses, I buy House & Garden and Home & Gardens monthly, I watch Architectural Digest home tours and follow many home accounts on Instagram. Seeing how different people decorate and draw inspiration from different cultures and styles is wonderful.
As we begin our first house purchase and move, I’ve started multiple mood-boards, pen to paper lists and phone app lists of ideas or objects I see online, so here is what I discovered in June.
1: John Lewis x Sanderson
This partnership is all about heritage and timeless British designs. There is so much I’d buy from this collection, but one piece stood out to me immediately. Classic stripes and a frilled skirt make this accent chair a statement piece of furniture in a room. I’d place this in an at-home office for a reading seat.
2. Sabre Paris Bistrot Cutlery
Cutlery needn’t be boring when Sabre Paris is available. I will be upgrading our cutlery drawer when we move to a mix of their ivory and chocolate Bistrot set.
3. Henry Holland Glassware
When Henry Holland does glassware, this is what you get. Marbled pitchers and tumblrs hand-blown by local artisans in England.
4. Zara Home Bobbin Mirror
Every home needs a full length mirror and I love this raw wood bobbin effect from Zara Home, which also comes in a smaller size to put on a wall. I would rest this at the end of a corridor to bounce light.
5. Bombay Sprout x Laura Stephens Rug
I’m starting to realise just how expensive good quality rugs are, and it would be a dream to own one from from Bombay Sprout one day. 100% Jute, hand woven flat weave with a beautiful antique blue and walnut edge.
6. Rosie Gore Platter
I’ve got a thing for irregular pottery. I love the story that comes with it and that no one piece is the same. I’m picturing this pink and burgundy serving platter at a dinner party with nectarines, mozzarella and basil on.
7. Zara Home Striped Table Cloth
More blue stripes, this time one that is perfect for summer garden dining.
